About Us

At the summit of Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park

We are two people who love the outdoors who decided that we want to explore America’s big national parks (and more!) in more depth than a couple of weeks of vacation per year could allow. After years of preparing, we finally are taking the plunge to leave our home and jobs to live full-time in a truck camper as we travel across the United States with our four-legged adventure buddies Pippin and Loki.

Tara‘s first adventures were through books. (She is a librarian, after all.) But it didn’t take long for her to connect the fantastic imagined worlds she read about with the landscapes she physically traveled. The resulting adventures have taken her to mountain tops and trail running races and overnight backpacking trips. But with each new adventure, she’s also become more intrigued by the cultures and history surrounding our landscapes.

George is an independent, outdoors-loving guy who can usually be found riding a mountain bike.
He has dreamed for years about traveling the country and can’t wait to see where the road will take us.

Pippin is a 5-year-old Pomeranian who hikes, paddle boards, and kayaks, proving that adventure dogs come is all sizes. You can find all of Pippin’s adventures on his Instagram account: @pippin_the_adventure_pom

Loki is the newest addition to the pack. He is a young Siberian Husky about a year and a half old who loves to hike, go mountain biking with George, and give husky hugs to everyone he meets.

I had to go out into the world and see it and hear it and react to it, before I knew at all who I was, what I was, what I wanted to be.

Mary Oliver

I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.

Henry David Thoreau

The Road goes ever on and on,
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can

J. R. R. Tolkien
